Description of my issue:

Out of the blue I'm getting this error: Database connection error (2): Could not connect to MySQL -- when I click the WAF tab. 

Any idea why?

There's a hosting issue which prevents Joomla! from connecting to the database. I believe you should have many more issues with that site and various other components.
