Please remove the following directories:

  • plugins/system/admintools
  • plugins/system/oneclickaction
  • components/com_admintools
  • administrator/components/com_admintools

Please remember that we no longer support Joomla! 1.6 and our latest versions MUST NOT be installed on Joomla! 1.6. As you found out, trying to do that will break the site. You will need an older version which is compatible with Joomla! 1.6. According to our Version Compatibility page only Admin Tools 2.1.x is available for Joomla! 1.6. You can download it from https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/admintools/admintools-2-1-14.html

Hi many thanks for your quick reply, by removeing these files will this correct the error message related to the SQL as well?

Yes. removing those folders will remove Admin Tools files. This will allow you to have access to your site. You can then install Admin Tools 2.2.14.
