MySQL version: 5.5.28-cll
Host: www.cyberhostpro.com
Admin Tools version: 2.4.4 pro

Description of my issue:

I have moved a client from PHP Fusion CMS to Joomla

Google has links to old urls

e.g.

http://www.burtonphysiocentre.co.uk/viewpage.php?page_id=1

trying to redirect to "about-us/your-team"

I tried the redirect copmponent built into Joomla 2.5

but still got no page result

Then looked at Admin Tools

At first to see if it was stopping "redirect plugin" from working? (does it?)

Then foud Admin Tools does redirection

so set up a redirect here

went to site - link still failed

however ALSO when i now load the site

www.burtonphysiocentre.co.uk

it won't show any image files and menus don't render etc?

I can restore to earlier today but any ideas how the above url rewrite attempts could have broken it?

Hello Ian,

Admin Tools' URL Redirection feature doesn't work well with URLs containing parameters. Our redirection feature is designed to keep the URL parameters intact, which is definitely not what you want. You can write your own .htaccess redirection rules.

however ALSO when i now load the site

www.burtonphysiocentre.co.uk

it won't show any image files and menus don't render etc?

Most likely you need to read this: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/athtaccessexceptions.html

I can restore to earlier today but any ideas how the above url rewrite attempts could have broken it?

You can always remove all redirections from both Admin Tools and Joomla! and retry loading your front-end. But, honestly, I don't think they are related because both of them opearte only on the PHP level while media files (like CSS and Javascript) are served directly by Apache.

upon a bit of investigation

it seems

items are trying to be loaded such as:

http://www.burtonphysiocentre.com/www.burtonphysiocentre.com/images/burton/logo/bp_man_heart_blue_960_rnd_b.png

So somewhere whilst using the redirect component and redirect in admin tools the site now tries to add in the base url twice

any idea where this is being picked up from?

if you remove the one copy url and use

http://www.burtonphysiocentre.com/images/burton/logo/bp_man_heart_blue_960_rnd_b.png

it shows the image of the logo

so I now need to find what is causing the double entry of the base url?

It was working before I set any url redirects

I have disabled the rewrite plugin and switch off the one in admin tools

and rebuilt htaccess via admin tools

same problem still exists

neltek

p.s. had read the exceptions htaccess article and succesfully used it for two issues previously

chronoforms capcha

and

simple image gallery thumbnails

this time my investigation just shows the double base url but i don't know what to do about it?

Let's make sure that the problem is indeed caused by Admin Tools. In order to do so, try the following:

1. Try to replicate the issue after disabling the "System - Admin Tools" plugin. If you can still replicate the issue, it is not caused by Admin Tools. Disabling that plugin means that Admin Tools code (including the Web Application Firewall) is not running on your site.

2. If you suspect an issue with the .htaccess file, replace its contents with the contents of the stock htaccess.txt file shipped with every version of Joomla!. If you are on GoDaddy please wait for 1-30 minutes for the changes to be effective. Then, retry loading the problem page. If you can still reproduce the error, then it is not caused by .htaccess Maker.

Tell me the results of the tests.
