Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: Joomla! 2.5.8 Stable
PHP version: 5.3.8
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Admin Tools version: 2.4.4

Description of my issue:

I am a bit confused here :(

If I run the fix permission tool Jooma will still tell me that files/folders are unwritable so what is correct? I understand completely the information you provide about setting permissions (755,644). However I am on a dedicated server does this information is still relevant or should I 'listen'to what Joomla is saying.

I understand your confusion. Back in 2000, when I first used Linux (the underlying operating system of your web server) I shared the same confusion with you. The fact is that permissions, all by themselves, don't give you the full picture. You need to know the ownership of the files, the permissions and the user and group the web server runs under in order to determine what is writeable and why. I would recommend reading the following:

Maybe i need to create another ticket or I cant even expect you to help me out (since its not related to ur extensions) but since I know that ur knowledge is highly respected around I will make a try.

if u can help it will be fine, if u can't is fine also,if i need to pay let me know

Problem: my site is in big problem

when i turn debug ON i get a lot of errors.

why did i turn it on? my site went offline 3 days ago, but was working fine.

after a lot of headaches i turned off SH404 sef and my site was working good again.

problem is, i need my sef urls! thats why i have this extension. i mailed the guys at sh404 and then they set debug to 1, disabled sh404 and said well ur site is till reporting issues.

but again, if i disable sef404 site works properly. so i need to fix issues to be able to further see.

(i use akeeba pro and admintools pro)

these are the errors

Global Configuaration, set Debug Site to No to disable it.

Please note that the debug mode should never be turned on on production sites. It's there for developers. It will even halt on errors we developers expect and handle in our code. Don't turn it on. It's like a wrench. If you don't know what you're doing you'll end up throwing the wrench inside a previously working machine and... ka-boom :)

I understand that and it is turned OFF! they asked me to do so so I can see that the problem was not at their side. They say I all errors all fixed, I can enable sh404 again and it shoulld work.

Note: Joomla default sef works as expected!

But those errors are there for a reason, right?

I still have problems with the sef404 enabled but as I stated before they say

" Hello

I`m sorry but as I`ve told you before this is an issue on your website, not in sh404sef, you may want hire someone to fix your website error. we are here to problems regarding to sh404sef component, hope you understand.."   Can u help me out or show me how to digg further to solve my problem?

I told you, the Debug mode will halt on errors which developers expect and handle in their code. Just because you see an error in debug mode it doesn't mena something is wrong. You need to trace the code execution and see where this error is generated and why.

For what is worth, the actual code path in your error message does not indicate that sh404SEF has anything to do with it. In fact it seems that it's thrown by core Joomla! code which most likely means that your assets database table is broken. You'd need something like ACL Manager to fix them.

ok thanks

user54063

before I continue I want to thank you for ur reply. I was thinking that those errors were there all along and still my site was operating normally.

one simple last question remains: how come with sh404SEF disabled my site stops working but still the problem is not due to that.
