Fixing the permissions of files and directories

Joomla! version: (2.5.8)
PHP version: (5.3)
MySQL version: (5.1)
Host: (hostdime)
Admin Tools version: (3.4)

Description of my issue:

All permissions got set to 000.  I have contacted the host as described however they are unsure of what needs to be done to fix this problem.

Admin Tools doesn't have an option for you to set 000 permissions. I am not sure what is going on there. We use PHP's chmod() function which uses the underlying operating system's chmod() to execute the file change. Without knowing how the server setup is implemented, or even what operating system it runs on, I can't possibly tell you what's going on. The fact that the host doesn't know either is worrisome.
