Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.8
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.5.28-log
Host: Bluehost
Admin Tools version: 2.4.3

Description of my issue:

We are using foxcontact version 2.0.19, and it no longer allows email attachments since we integrated admintools pro. It tries to attach them but once the file is uploaded 100% it gives a "Failed" response. . . using firebug it shows a "NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error"

Okay I've read and reread the admin tools documents but I have been unable to figure out where I'm going wrong. I'm guesing it has to do with either the Web Application Firewall or (most likely) the htaccess maker.

So I have been playing with the "Allow direct access..." options in the htacces maker and the "WAF Exceptions" options in the WAF settings. So I'm either enter the wrong stuff in the wrong area or I'm going about this the completely wrong way way.

Please advise. . .

Let's make sure that the problem is indeed caused by Admin Tools. In order to do so, try the following:

1. Try setting the Error Reporting level in your Global Configuration to "None". Many errors are caused by harmless PHP Notices and Warnings being output to the browser, breaking anything which requires HTTP header manipulation such as Joomla!'s session management, AJAX calls and download systems.

2. Try to replicate the issue after disabling the "System - Admin Tools" plugin. If you can still replicate the issue, it is not caused by Admin Tools. Disabling that plugin means that Admin Tools code (including the Web Application Firewall) is not running on your site.

3. If you suspect an issue with the .htaccess file, replace its contents with the contents of the stock htaccess.txt file shipped with every version of Joomla!. If you are on GoDaddy please wait for 1-30 minutes for the changes to be effective. Then, retry loading the problem page. If you can still reproduce the error, then it is not caused by .htaccess Maker.

If doing any of the above resulted in the issue still occurring, it's not related with Admin Tools and I can't help you. If doing any of the above did stop the issue from occurring, we'll have to do some troubleshooting.

First go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Configure WAF. Make sure "Log security exceptions" is set to Yes; if it's not, set it to Yes and click on Save. Now try reproducing your issue. Immediately after that, please go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Security Exceptions Log and go to the last page. The last log entry should have the date and time of when the issue occurred. Please copy the Reason and Target URL here so that I can help you.

If, however, you do not see a log entry, or the Date and/or IP address do not match your last access, this problem is not caused by Admin Tools' WAF. In this case, you will have to do some .htaccess troubleshooting. You may need to read the general .htaccess troubleshooting page, as well as the page on finding out necessary .htaccess exceptions.

Nicholas,

I went through all of your steps and it would appear that admin tools is not the culprit here. . . It is definitely uploading the files onto the server but it can't seem to retrieve them. . .

But on a side note, going through these steps I've notice another possible problem, in the WAF Security Log exceptions there are a numer of these logs:

Reason:    tmpl= in

Targe URL:     URL http://www.turnerbikes.com/index.php?option=com_testimonial_fader&view=testimonial_fader&task=captcha&tmpl=component637

Is this component not working properly because of this. . . since installing admintools I've noticed we haven't had any new testimonials, is it possible they are being blocked?

OK, so we can leave the main issue aside since it's not related to Admin Tools.

Regarding the other issue, here's what you can do. Go to Components, Admin Tools, Web Application Fireall, Configure WAF and make sure that "List of allowed tmpl= keywords" is set to:

component,raw,system,component637

BTW, I think that this particular component has a bug. I believe that the URL should probably be
http://www.turnerbikes.com/index.php?option=com_testimonial_fader&view=testimonial_fader&task=captcha&tmpl=component&Itemid=637
or
http://www.turnerbikes.com/index.php?option=com_testimonial_fader&view=testimonial_fader&task=captcha&tmpl=component

Setting tmpl=component637 doesn't make any sense...
