Description of my issue:

Nicholas,

AT Pro is working great and it's a fantastic extension!! When I first started using it 4 months ago I was getting hundreds of Geo-Block security alert emails, mostly for China IPs. I blocked the 10 highest rated spammer countries and over the past 4 months I now only get about 10 security alert emails per day. I guess the spammers/hackers got tired of AT Pro blocking their bots.

Today I got the first security alert email I've ever seen about Google Public DNS:

IP Address: 8.8.8.8 (IP Lookup:

http://ip-lookup.net/index.php?ip=8.8.8.8

I did a search and found Google Public DNS site: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Do you know anything about Google public DNS? Is it something I need to adjust my AT Pro settings for if spammers/hackers are starting to use it with their bots?

I'm not a programmer but this Google DNS service seems interesting since it says it makes your site pages display faster than using the typical DNS.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi Guy,

Thank you for your kind words!

Regarding the odd result, this looks like a serious hacker who spoofed his IP address. Such attacks usually aim to create a catastrophic failure and make it extra hard to locate the attacker. Well, I'm happy that Admin Tools could stop this kind of attack :)

As far as Google's DNS is concerned, I use Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) and OpenDNS (208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220). They've proven infinitely more reliable than any ISP's DNS service I've tried so far.
