Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the tickets before posting? No
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 2.5.8
PHP version: 5.3.2
MySQL version: 5.1.63
Host: CWCS UK
Admin Tools version: 2.4.2

Description of my issue: On two seperate sites I've had the following behavior. Some time after securing the Joomla administrator with a password the entire site has required the password. The error may have occured after a Joomla or Sdmin tools upgrade.

The password protection worked fine. Some time later instead of only the admin requirng a password the prompt shows for the entire site. This is obviously an issue as it prevents people accessing the sites.

This has only occured on our shared server (details above).

I will try and replicate this to provide more info.

Hello Dave,

No need to do any further digging, my friend :) It's already documented in our troubleshooting documentation.
