Hi Nick.Β  Don't have a particular problem at the moment (miracle, or what?), just a question, and also a V-for-victory against all those idiot hackers that were attacking me over the spring/summer; they apparently got tired of me and moved on to someone else, since I haven't seen any kind of attack -- other than the blue-stork debacle -- since I started using the suffix to the admin URL for the site that's in my public_html root -- that was apparently the site that was letting them get in.

I just got all my sites updated to the 2.4.2 version of admin tools, and I see this new "two factor authentication."Β  I can't use it, at the moment, since I don't use any of the admin templates listed (I had to change, back during the blue-stork hack); also, I don't have a mobile phone, so that square icon doohickey is meaningless to me.Β  I was just wondering if you have any plans to implement this for other admin templates; I started using VTEM on all my sites, and it's really excellent, so I have no plans to stop using it.

Thx much,

Andria

Hello Andria,

You can use the two-factor authentication without a smartphone. Just follow the documentation instructions. There's a Java app which can work with it. The QR code is optional; you can always use the key as per the documentation.

The list of "supported" templates is merely the list of templates I have tested this feaeture with. Most likely it will work on other templates, I simply haven't tested it and I can't be sure. Trying it will convince you if it works with your template or not :)

Ok, I'll try it out; although things have been safe and sane for the last few months, I know that can always change!--so it would definitely be good to have yet another line of defense.Β  I'll test it out and let you know if it works with the VTEM admin template (which really is excellent, so I'm sure others who use it would probably like to know).

Thx much!

I may have to wait, just to figure out how to use it -- I seem to have the flu or something, and my major symptom seems to be that I feel extremely "wooly-headed" -- no focus, can't seem to grasp new things -- even though I'm a whiz at Jeopardy!, I've noticed in the last few days that I can't seem to get the answers fast at all.Β  Arghh!Β  It's downright infuriating to feel so out of it, when I don't have many other symptoms at all -- I think 51 is a bit young for senile dementia!

Infuriated at my own flesh,

Andria
