Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: (2.5.7)
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (hostgator)
Admin Tools version: (Admin Tools Professional 2.3.2)

Description of my issue:
I need to block users from accessing my site and watch or download cetain pdf .swf or mp4
I want them to use articles and follow the instructions.
Rather than typing the URL of certain names of videos or swf and accessing it

You can't really do that. If you disable access to media files' URLs then nobody can access them. What you should do is use a download manager component, e.g. PhocaGallery, DOCman, ... and make the downloads perhaps available only to registered users.

Thank you Nicholas

All of that could even happen when my site is offline.
people could access all the type files that i have created.

What i mean is
Mainly watching or reading pdf or images as well.
when i type my

http://mydomain.com/media/video/lesson1.swf

I have denied access to media/ or media/videos/ or media/lessons by it self but not
when .swf .pdf or ,mp3
like bunney.mp4 for example.

even after having restricted only to members only if they find out through streaming the video in the bar they would be able to find out the directory and the file's name

Anyone can access to videos all they need to know is just the lesson1 or 2 etc..

Do you think joomla can help in this or other type of cms
because really i have worked hard to have lessons on these videos for the purpose of teaching they are only accessible after being a member to watch not to download.
like lynda dot com
Thank you for the help

I insist on my previous suggestion. This is how all CMS do it. They don't link directly to files, they link to a part of the CMS application which allows you to download/stream the file. Think about it. If you link directly to a file the only thing between your user's browser and the file is the web server, not the CMS.

Thank you for that reply
I used JCE to link the file in a popup but you could still see the directory.
also i joined OSE membership the restrict joomla component, menu, articles but not files!

So if i use Phoca or docman will they users be prevented from seeing where is the directory?

or what about some one said use cdn ?
I am lost here

As I said in my first reply, you'll have to use PhocaDownloads or DOCman to do that. If you are not sure how to set them up to do what you described, please contact their developers. It's actually quite easy to do so, just not part of the support I can give as it's not related to my software.

Thank so much for the reply and help as you usually do.

One more question in my admin tools Security Exceptions Log

do i delete them all ?

nicholas

Anything marked as "Bad Behaviour" is what is caught by the Bad Behaviour integration in WAF (Web Application Firewall). If you are not sure what this means please consult the documentation of the configuration page for WAF in Admin Tools' documentation.

Should you delete your old log entries? That's entirely up to you. If you do not want to have a history of attack attempts on your site you can delete those entries.

I close the matter.
