Joomla! version: (Joomla 2.5.7)
PHP version: (5.3.16-9.el6.art)
MySQL version: (5.5.27-11.el6.art)
Host: (1and1)
Admin Tools version: (2.5.7)

Description of my issue:

When I turn on front end protection under .htaccessmy articles start acting up and my module slider from yoo-widget stops working. The website I'm working on is medtowersnoth.com and I'd like to have my front end protected as well but don't know what to do next.

Sorry in advance for my brief reply, I am out of office and don't have a reliable Internet connection. The recommended method for finding and fixing .htaccess issues is following the steps in the .htaccess troubleshooter documentation. If you can't fix it by yourself, please do send me a reply and so that we can arrange for a suitable way for me to help you.
