Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (2.5.6)
PHP version: (5.3 )
MySQL version: (5.1.63-rel13.4-log)
Host: (APT host)
Admin Tools version: (2.3.2 )

Description of my issue: I have upgraded to PHP 5.3. . In order to do so I have to add AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php to the .htaccess file. My issue is when I create the .htaccess file from the htaccess maker it deletes AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php . How do I use Admin tools and keep my PHP level at 5.3

This is already discussed in the documentation. You can place your custom directives in the first area discussed the documentation and regenerate your .htaccess file. This way your PHP version will stay at 5.3.

Hi Nick, Yes I read that documentation and I am still confused. I have this code that needs to go in the .htaccess file: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php

The doc says:

"The contents of the Custom .htaccess rules at the bottom of the file text area are appended to the end of the .htaccess file. This is the place to put stuff like directives to enable PHP5 and any optimizations which should run only after the request has passed through the security and server protection rules."

Do I just put it at the very end of the doc?

Ok I added it to the end and it did not work.

First, make sure you have used the "Save and create .htaccess file" button, otherwise the change will be saved but not applied. If you still have this issue, please ZIP and attach your generated .htaccess file so that I can take a look at it. Thanks!

Hi
Here are my steps:

Save and create .htaccess file" button and it deletes "AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php" in the .htaccess file

I manually add "AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php to the bottom of the custom .htaccess file and I get PHP 5.3.

I then to "Save and create .htaccess file" and it deletes "AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php" in the .htaccess file

Do I need to manually add the "AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php" in the .htaccess file in the .htaccess file everytime I Save and create .htaccess file?

Sorry having trouble uploading the file.

In all of my tests the line is not removed and is correctly added to the bottom of the generated .htaccess file. I really want to see that file. Try downloading to your computer, rename it to htaccess.txt, ZIP it and send me the ZIP file. Or upload it somewhere and send me the link to it.

IMPORTANT: If this line does not show up in .htaccess Maker's "Custom .htaccess rules at the bottom of the file" field after clicking the "Save and create .htaccess file" button you have a different issue: there is a database error which doesn't allow the .htaccess Maker settings to be saved. If this happens, please let me know.
