Description of my issue:
not really an issue, just a question ! :-)

I am trying to fully understand and to agregate the pages 11-12-13-14 and 53 of the user's manual !

Why to use CHMOD 755 or 777 for directories containing only data to be written and read and never be "executable" ?
And so, have to add an .htaccess filein those directories to prevent the use of an (malicious) executable file uploaded in this directory ?

Why not use 766 ?
Espacially for the logs and temp directories used by Akeeba BackUp !

Otherwise, I am very happy to use your product (Pro version) !
Thanks for the job done and for your coming accurate answer, as always :-)

Your question actually begs an entire chapter in a book, discussing how users, permissions and ownership work in UNIX-derivative operating systems. I have actually already written it. It's a very lengthy chapter and a very technical one. You may have to read it through a couple of times. It's worth the time spent. You will understand the basics of access control in Linux :)
