Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 2.5.4
PHP version:5.3.4
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: dedicatednow.com
Admin Tools version: 2.3.1

Description of my issue:

Two problems:

First, my admintools link has disappeared. I have to access it via /index.php?option=com_admintools
Upgrading did not fix it.

Second, I keep getting banned as the admin. I have my IP address everywhere it asks for one and if I get banned almost every time I login, for a login issue. But the login and never changed so I don't know why. This is a BIG problem since I have about a 100 or more bots from china visiting my site daily trying to get in. The time it takes to deactivate the main.php or pro.php is all the time they will need so it's always risky having to reset myself over and over. WHAT can I possibly do to keep ME from being banned every time I work on my site?

Thanks,

Jenni

1. This is a known Joomla! extensions installer bug I had reported over a year ago. The patch I submitted was finally accepted last week, so this bug should be fixed in Joomla! 2.5.7 due for release in a couple of months. In the meantime you have to follow the instructions under the "Joomla! 1.6/1.7/2.5 installation problems" header in our installation troubleshooter documentation. Substitute COM_AKEEBA with COM_ADMINTOOLS in those instructions.

2. I am pretty sure that if you have your IP address in one of the whitelists in the WAF Configuration page it won't get banned. There is a catch, though. The IPs in the whitelists must be comma separated without spaces between them. Moreover you must make sure that there are no leftover log entries with your IP address in the Security Exceptions Log. If the problem persists, go to Admin Tools, Web Application Firewall, Security Exceptions Log. The latest log entry should have the date and time of when the issue occurred. Please copy the Reason and Target URL here so that I can help you.
