Description of my issue:
Hello, 2 questions I could not find any answers to, here or otherwise.
1. My configuration.php files are not all the same permissions for every site. They are either 444 or 644. The 644 I have tried to change to 444 in FTP but they don't stay, they go back to 644. What should they be? I have never set them so I don't know why some are different. Is this done from the Joomla site?
2. Should I try to rename the database itself or isn't that necessary. I assume it's not or you would have mentioned it.

Thanks

1. Please read the Security Information chapter of our documentation. It will make it crystal clear why 0444 doesn't make any sense anyway.

2. I assume you mean when restoring a site? No, you don't need to rename the database. Out of curiosity, why are you asking? I mean, why would you want to rename the database?

1. So 644 is the correct setting. I was just confused because some of mine are 444 for some reason. Thanks

2. I meant changing the name for security. Just a general question, I now think it was a dumb one. This is all new to me. Sorry

1. The 444 ones are set by old versions of Joomla!. It is a stupid """security""" measure. I put the word "security" in triple quotations because the 444 permissions have no effect to the security of the site whatsoever. In fact they work against you, as the configuration.php is no longer writable over FTP and people end up giving 0777 permissions. Bummer :) 0644 permissions are OK.

2. Ah, I understand what you mean. You mean changing the database table prefix, not the database name. For example if it's jos_ make it something like a7x6_. If you're using the default prefix of older Joomla! versions (jos_) or an obvious prefix please use the "Database Table Prefix Editor" feature of Admin Tools to change the prefix to a different one. You can accept Admin Tools' suggestion for the new name; it's a truly random 4 alphanumeric digit long, hard to guess prefix.
