Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.5
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: Bluehost.com
Admin Tools version: latest

Description of my issue: I recently installed Admin Tools. Last night the administrative backend of my site (www.etctestprep.com) showed that an update was available. I could choose to keep 2.5.4 or update to 2.5.5. I have tried both options to no avail. After upgrading to 2.5.5 my Joomla shows that it is up to date. When I click the check mark I am shown my version (2.5.5) and the Full installation package (see attachment). I can chose to re-install 2.5.5 or reload the information from the server.

Per instructions in another ticket, I have waited 6 hours+ for the site to take the update.

I am not sure where to go from here, I CANNOT get past this point to access my backend.

There is one thing I do not understand:
I am not sure where to go from here, I CANNOT get past this point to access my backend.

Huh?! This has nothing to do with accessing your site's back-end. That's a page from Admin Tools. In fact, it tells you that you've already updated. If your problem is that the other icon (the one that ships with Joomla! itself) is saying that there is an update available, you have to wait for 24 hours. Joomla!'s cache lasts for 24 hours. The other ticket you mentioned was talking about Admin Tools' update cache which lasts for 6 hours. And I still have no idea how that can be possibly related to using your site's back-end as this page does not block your administrator control panel in any conceivable way.

I have another site that also has Akeeba backup, but has not got admin tools on it and the install went fine.

Let me rephrase, I can get the back end of the site, but I can't get past the screen I sent. So I need to wait until 24 hours from the upgrade time for the cache to clear? Is there a way I can do this manually from the control panel of my host?

That page basically tells you that your site is up to date. There is nothing you have to do. So let me rephrase my question. You go to your site's administrator URL and log in. What do you see? Do you see the page you sent me or something else?

After logging into my backend, this is the first page I see, the first attachment I sent is the second page I see after clicking the Check mark that says "Joomla! is up to date".

All right. Now that you told me what your real problem is, I can help you solve it! :) This is either a problem with Joomla! ACLs or a problem with Joomla!'s sessions. And the solution is already documented since one and a half year ago, as Akeeba Backup was one of the first components to be affected: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/abbrokesite.html (the root cause for your issue is the same). For the record, my patch to the Joomla! project to solve the first issue wasn't accepted.
