I have no idea what's going on with Honeypot.org, and I have no clue how to find out, so I thought I would start by asking here: any idea what's up with their "502 Bad Gateway"? I keep trying to go to their site to lookup IPs in my security exceptions log, but I can't seem to get through.

Also, just a thought: is there any easy way to add links to Joomla's control panel? I'd really like to have a link to the security exceptions log right there on the front page, instead of having it 3-clicks down. (Admin Tools, Application Firewall, Security exceptions log -- that gets really tiresome). Even some kind of extension that would allow one to add to the quickicons would be really useful for stuff like this.

Thx!

Nevermind that last part -- I went to the JED and found "KC Quick Icons" which does what I need, more or less -- I really wanted to just add a new icon to the existing quickicons, but joomla doesn't give you an easy way to do that. But at least I got my security exceptions log on the front page, where I wanted it, instead of buried 3 clicks down.

And it appears that Honeypot is back, but I'm still wondering about that "502 Bad Gateway" business; what does that mean?

It would be really good if that little magnifying glass/IP lookup feature in the security exceptions log would look them up on Honeypot, because that "IP-lookup" site is fairly useless; it's really just WHOIS data, which doesn't tell me if the IP is associated with a known spammer/rule breaker. However anytime I see in that IP data that the particular IP is associated with something called "RIPE" I can pretty well figure that this person is an internet terrorist (spammer, hacker, etc). "RIPE" seems to specialize in them.

Thx,
Andria

Hi Andria,

Search engine have all the answers in the world :) 502 errors explained.

Regarding the magnifying glass, it's customisable. Ah, you missed that in the docs. Since Admin Tools 2.2.6 there's a Configure WAF option called "IP Lookup Service". Guess what it does? It allows you to customise that URL.

Regarding RIPE, you have a wrong assumption. You can look them up. As you can see it's anything but bad people ;)
