Joomla! version: (1.5.26)
PHP version: (5.2.17)
MySQL version: (5.1.63)
Host: (Bluehost)
Admin Tools version: (2.2.6)

Description of my issue:
After creating a custom .htaccess file, we lost access to our front-end CiviCRM member directory (visible to our logged-in members through a link like SITENAME/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm%2Fprofile&reset=1&force=1&gid=8&Itemid=291. Removing the .htaccess file restored the member directory... so I guess I need to add an exception for this, right?

However, without a lot of trial and error, I'm not sure what to include. Any help is appreciated...
