Description of my issue: Is it possible with the help of Admintools, to update to Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2.0? And if so, how to proceed?

Unfortunately no, it's not. Joomla! 1.5 to 2.5 is not an update, it is a migration. You will need something like jUpgrade or SP Upgrade to migrate your site to Joomla! 2.5. You can find some information on Joomla!'s YouTube channel (I believe the official video is recorded by Jon Neubauer) and the Joomla! documentation wiki. There is also a step by step video tutorial on Joomlashack university. I am sure that if you search around you may find some free and paid resources. There are also people who can do the upgrade for you if you can't get it done yourself. I can recommend someone if time is of the essence and you can afford paying a consultant to do that.
