Can we slow down a little? Steven is not a member of the staff. He's a community volunteer who replied to your post trying to help you, not insult you, because he knows I was asleep as I have an early flight to catch today. In fact, I am sitting at the airport gate right now.
I undrstand why he wrote what he wrote. Your cery first post here indicated that you had ad the documentation, troubleshooting instructions and searched older tickets. If you were alittle more upfront with this information it would have helped me expedite the resolution to your problem. Obviously I am not you, I have no idea what you've tried and if you know where to look for information or what you see on your screen. I rely to your info on the first post to help you. So let's take it from the beginning, shall we?
You don't know where the docs are. They are under the Docs menu item on the top of each page here. If you prefer a PDF document it's on the Downloads, alongside the component. It's always been there. Which section to look at? Steven did tell you and he was correct on that.
Regarding your allegation about the software not being ready, that's false. You are affected by a known Joomla! bug, one which has been there since the early Joomla! 1.6 betas. I have already proposed a patch to the Joomla! prohect to solve it and it was rejected. Sorry, I cannot forcibly fix Joomla! and you have not paid me to build Joomla!. We have the same issues every time we push a major update out, like 3.1 to 3.2 a little over a year ago. Would I want to see this fixed? YES! More than you! I have to reply to dozens of requests as a result of those Joomla! bugs. It's infinitely more upsetting to me that you. but "c'est la vie" :(
Rgarding your issue, if you actually want us to help you fix it, you have to delete the following directories:
- administrator/components/com_akeeba
- components/com_akeeba
- media/com_akeeba
and retry installing Akeeba Backup 3.5.0 Stable. It does work and I am very positive about that. I am currently using it on this site, my blog site and half a dozen other live sites. 3.5.0 is stable, usable and doesn't have the issue you bumped on if Joomla!'s extension installer class (JInstaller) doesn't screw up during update.
So, before requesting a refund, would you please try my instructions so that we can actually help you solve the problem?
Note: I will be out of office and out of the country till May 22nd. Please excuse any delayed replies. I am neither ignoring you nor trying to insult you, I will just have no or flakey Internet connectivity.
