Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: 1.5.26
PHP version: (unknown)5.3.19
MySQL version: 5.1.61
Host: Rochen
Admin Tools version: 1.5.26

Description of my issue:

Was hacked and restored the system. After that I decided to password-protect Administrator and change the super Administrator ID.

Result: A popup like the one box requesting access to the admin folder appeared on the front page. Clicking ok without entering anything, skipped the box and showed the home page.

I went to change the password on the new super user id and got an 403 error - Access denied when I tried to save it. Tried to create a new super user I could use instead, but got the same error when trying to save it.

Have now removed the passwrod protected admin so people can get to the front page without the box which made people believe they couldnt get tot he page. However, I can't fugure out how to be allowed to change the superuser password.

I am really confused...

Thank you. Yes that did the trick. But I cannot remember having made that change. Anyway now I know - and yes I have set it back to disabled.

If, at any point, you uninstalled Admin Tools, the setting would have been reset to Yes. Also, if you never touched the setting, the default value is Yes. The idea is that the stock option should be designed to protect you.
