Joomla! version: 2.5.4
PHP version: 5.3.9

Description of my issue:

Attempting to upgrade to the new version - Using the Admintools component - clicking on the upgrade button - returns an error message "Unable to open archive
Extracting the update package failed. Please try updating the extension manually."

Please go to Components, Admin Tools and click on the "Clear tmp directory" button. Then click on the Joomla! update button and retry. Does that help?

I see something strange. You say you have Joomla! 2.5.4. The latest Joomla! release is 2.5.4. Normally, Admin Tools should not offer any update. Can you please paste a screenshot of the update page, where it lists your current and available Joomla! versions?

The button reads "Joomla! Core up to date". Would you by any chance mean that you are trying to update Admin Tools itself to version 2.2.5?

OK, you meant Admin Tools 2.2.5, that's why I got confused (2.5 would refer to a Joomla! release). The error you have sounds like you've forgotten to enter your Download ID or you entered the wrong Download ID. Please follow these instructions. If that fails, you can always update by installing 2.2.5 over your existing Admin Tools release.
