PHP version:
PHP Built on: Linux server10.websitehostserver.net 2.6.18-374.12.1.el5.lve0.8.54 #1 SMP Wed Jan 4 18:40:17 EET 2012 x86_64
Database Version: 5.0.95-community
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.2.17
Web Server: Apache
Admin Tools version: 2.2.2

Description of my issue: Update email doesn't show any version email.
An updated version of Joomla! is available.

Joomla! version currently installed: Array

Joomla! version available for installation:

Note that there was nothing after the "version available for installation:" string.

As a side note (if it helps), the automatic update links never work for any of the Joomla sites that I help with that are hosted by GreenGeeks (4 different servers). They do work on sites hosted on Godaddy.

They also DO work if I log in as administrator BEFORE clicking the link.

Greengeeks runs ModSecurity, but they won't say anything about what rules they use, so I don't know if the above behavior (runs only after admin log-in) would indicate a problem there or not.

This is a known issue. I found out and fixed that issue just three days ago. The next version of Admin Tools will have this fix included.

Regarding the link, I can think of two issues:
1. mod_security or other server-side protection software modifies or strip out the one time password in the URL, not allowing the login. If you get a 403 error from your web server this is certainly the case.
2. You are using a third party plugin which performs additional checks when logging into your backend, e.g. jSecure or Karibu Security which have a feature similar to Admin Tools' secret administrator URL parameter. In this case, the condition of those plugins to allow backend login is not met and the login fails.
