Description of my issue:
I'm trying to follow your instructions from the 11642 ticket but can't find the "Back to standard installer" link at the bottom of the extensions installer page. Yes, I have Akeeba Backup Professional installed. And the Xmap is not installed yet.

If you have not enabled the system restore point feature of Akeeba Backup, you will not find this link. In this case, XMAP should install. If it doesn't, maybe it has to do with the fact that there are different xmap versions for Joomla! 1.5 and 2.5

Hi:

Now that I have just installed (updated) a new Akeeba Backup Pro version I noticed in the "Akeeba Backup: Post-installation configuration" page the Enable System Restore Points box is unselected. Should I keep it this way ? I am trying to repeat the Xmap installation, and I am sure last time I installed the latest Joomla 2.5 Xmap version. So if I change nothing now it means the same conditions prevail and the conflict will repeat again.

Unless you need that feature (automatic extension backup when you update an extension) you can keep that off. If you keep it off, Akeeba Backup doesn't conflict with XMap's installation, I've checked :)
