Description of my issue:

Nicholas -

Just wanted to follow up to the problem I'm having with these persistent connections (50+ a day)to joomlacode.org. Looking at the Joomla core download window in AT the package files are located on joomlacode.org so I don't know what else would be causing these other than AT core update check (or is the version check done somewhere else?). Is there anything else I should be checking?

Thanks

If this is a problem you have to unpublish the Admin Tools Joomla! Update Notification Email plugin and the Joomla! update notification administrator module. What happens is that Admin Tools will cache the update results of Joomla! for up to an hour. If that time elapses, Admin Tools will check JoomlaCode.org again for the existence of an update. The update check is triggered by one of the following events:
- When the Joomla! update notification plugin is enabled it will check on each page load if the update cache is stale. If it's stale, there's a 20% chance of an update check firing (this is a precaution against too many update checks firing at the same time on busy sites)
- When you visit your site's Control Panel page with the administrator module enabled, if the update cache is stale
- When you visit Admin Tools' Control Panel page, if the update cache is stale
Disabling the plugin and module will trigger an update check only when you manually visit Admin Tools' Control Panel page. Of course this means that you won't be automatically notified about updates. Automatic notifications require frequent update checks.

Not sure why this is still happening...I've unpublished the Joomla Update notification admin module and both update email plugins and still seeing these connections. The long process time is triggering these lfd email alerts.

Resource: Process Time
Exceeded: 679211 > 1800 (seconds)
Executable: /usr/bin/php
Command Line: index.php

Executable:/usr/bin/php
Command Line (often faked in exploits):
/usr/bin/php index.php
Network connections by the process (if any):
tcp: server_IP:56616 -> 206.123.111.164:80

I'm not sure why that happens. If you disable these modules and plugins, my code isn't checking anything on JoomlaCode.org. Joomla! 1.5 doesn't have any update check on its own, so what happens beats me :s One crazy idea: try disabling the Admin Tools component and the Admin Tools System plugin for two days and see if these connections recur.
