As I read in the other tread probably is the Joomla Extensions manager update thats caused the problem.
I used this method to have a restore point before upgrading, now I understand it was safer to upgrade using Live Update in Admin Tools itself.
The site is running right now but I can't still access the backend, is there something I can try?

thank you

Hello Luca,

In order to completely uninstall all PHP files of Admin Tools, but not lose your settings, you have to follow the instructions in our release announcement (under the "Rolling back to an earlier Admin Tools version" section).

After you do that, download the installation package for Admin Tools Professional 2.2.0 and install it using Extensions, Manage Extensions. If the site goes down immediately after that, please extract the installation package locally and copy the fof directory into your site's libraries directory so that you now have a libraries/fof directory in your site. This will allow Admin Tools to work properly. Please note that if this happens it means that you should enable Joomla!'s FTP mode, following the instructions under the "Enable FTP" header of our installation troubleshooting page.

Hi Nicholas, thank you for your answer.
I asked my provider to restore the last backup because the site was not working properly.
After that I will try to upgrade AdminTools Pro to the latest version using the Download ID and Live Update botton.
Thank you again
Luca

Hi Nicholas, backup is restored and the site is running normally.
The Admin Tools Professional installed version is revF057324 and I have to upgrade to version 2.2.0.
I am thinking to try upgrading on a local installation first, is there any other precaution I can take?
Do you think that the best way to upgrade is to supply Download ID to the component and click on the Update Found button?

Thank you
Luca

I always recommend trying upgrades and other major chunks of work on a local copy first, before trying it on the live site.

The only two supported upgrade methods are:
1. Supplying a Download ID and using Live Update
2. Installing the updated package on top of your existing installation using Joomla!'s extensions installer.

Any other method (e.g. using Joomla!'s extension update) is bound to fail.
