Description of my issue: If only I could avoid asking this question! Just looking for a way to protect an old Joomla 1.0.15 site, like admin tools can do. Htaccess file? Extension? What would You recommend? Thank you in advance

Nothing of the above will help. Joomla! 1.0.15 has a lot of known security vulnerabilities. No protection is possible/meaningful unless you migrate the site to a newer Joomla! version.

I found your master htaccess file. I'll try to get on with it. But I am still looking for good advices, when you have a moment…

Thank you for your response. I thought so. I will try to convince my client : new server, Joomla 2.5.x, Admin Tools Pro… Pfff

The Master .htaccess is made for Joomla! 1.5 and later.

I already gave you the one and only advice applicable: you have vulnerable software on your site, therefore you have to upgrade it. You should upgrade Joomla! to one of the latest published and supported versions. Or update Joomla! to the latest version. And of course you must upgrade Joomla! to the latest version. I almost forgot this, you have a vulnerable Joomla! version, therefore you have to upgrade, yesterday. Anything else you do is like expecting to jump off an airplane with a parachute full of holes and still not get killed. Sorry, no way. The first thing you have to do to secure a site is to make sure the server software is up-to-date.

I hope my advice is now made abundantly clear: upgrade or you will get hacked.
