I like the button to upgrade geoIP.dat in the latest admin tools release. Is there a way to use cron to update it automatically every month?

I don't have a CRON job for this task, but it shouldn't be too hard to create one, even all by yourself. All you need to do is to download the compressed (.gz) file from MaxMind, extract it (using gunzip) and place it to the assets directory of the component. The information you need regarding where to download the file from and where to put it are in the documentation. I can't provide a script for you, as it depends on the server environment (Linux, Windows, ... and whether you have wget or curl available) and the absolute path of your site.
If you want some help with writing that script, give me your site's absolute path and I'll make one for you. You'll have to test that it works on your server, though.
