Description of my issue:

After setting up WPA I created .htaccess using .htaccess Maker and saved as per instruction. However, when I tried to preview my site the template was terrible changed it appearance. Meantime I had another .htaccess already on the Public_Html which I use for sh404SEF.

1) how to avoid the my template from changing it appearance?
2) Can I copy the .htaccess maker generated code to my existing .htaccess? via FTP instead of using .htaccess maker on the Joomla back end?

Hi!

1. Please read https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/athtaccessexceptions.html to determine what exceptions you must add to the .htaccess Maker. It's relatively easy if you follow these step-by-step instructions (at least that's what everybody has told me so far).

2. No need to do anything! The new .htaccess replaces the old one. Please also read this for more information: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/admin-tools/htaccess-maker.html

I saved the .htaccess maker on the Joomla back end without creating .htaccess file.

Then I created manually through FTP/Public_html .htaccess.admintools and copied the .htaccess maker generated preview code and paste into .htaccess.admintools.

I guess it should not make no different, right? as the .htaccess.admintools created with same code and there is no error.

No, this is wrong. You have to REPLACE the contents of your .htaccess file with the preview of the .htaccess Maker or, much easier, simply go back to .htaccess Maker and click on "Save and Create .htaccess". The only file which gets parsed by your web server is the one named .htaccess. All other files, including .htaccess.admintools, .htaccess.bak, htaccess.txt and htaccess.bak are not taken into account.
