Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: 1.7.3
PHP version: 5
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: OnTheCloud.co
Admin Tools version: 2.1.12

Description of my issue: I upgraded from 2.1.11 to 2.1.12 with the automatic updater in the component and that all went well. It took me to "Post-installation configuration" and won't advance past that page. There are 2 optional checkboxes and neither of them can be checked. There is an "Apply Settings" button at the bottom, which we can click, but when we do it simply reloads that same page and goes nowhere.

We tried uninstalling the component and doing a fresh install of the component and we still have the same problem.

Here is a video to show what's going on: http://screencast.com/t/7bIjSfxC

This is not a bug. Well, at least it is not a bug in Admin Tools. It is a feature in your browser. Certain browsers tend to cache the redirections. The problem is that Admin Tools, just like Akeeba Backup, will redirect you to the post-restoration page right after you try to access it for the first time after installing a new version. Unfortunately, your browser "remembers" the redirection and every time you try to visit Admin Tools' page it will take you back to the post-installation page.

The solution is very simple. Clear the browser's cache, log out of your site, shut down the browser and the retry logging back in to your site and access Admin Tools. If this doesn't work, just try another browser and you'll see it works. I have already updated Admin Tools on all of my sites and I can assure you that there is no such bug :)

Sorry, still nothing. We've tried in 3 different browsers and 2 different computers, all with cache cleared on the site and in the browser. We have tried...

FireFox, Safari, and Chrome. All are updated and all had their cache cleared. We still cannot check either of the boxes and we cannot advances. It is still doing the same thing.

I have tried mobile Safari, desktop Safari, Chrome and Firefox on Joomla! 1.5.25 and 1.7.3 running on PHP 5.2.17 and 5.3.8. In all cases, what you describe I can't reproduce. Is it possible to send me a PM with Super Admin access for an affected site so that I can take a look?

Yes, can I email them to you as opposed to providing that information here?

No. Please send me a Personal Message (I am user "nicholas") with the following information:
- A link back to this thread (I ignore PMs without a link back to the forum thread)
- URL to your site's administrator page
- Super Admin username and password

I do not offer support by email. The very simple reason is that every time I did that I ended up having bits of the information on the forum, other bits on the email, then the user would come back a few weeks later with an unrelated problem, then get back to the original problem and I would be completely lost as to what I had done back then. Keeping it all on the site allows me to have full tracking of what was going on and what was done.

Hi Nicholas,
I know I don't have a support subscription for this, but just wanted to add to this existing topic that this is happening to me too on a J!1.5 site. (Actually... I might just go ahead and buy one so I can stop putting that with any forum posts in here). Thanks.

It's confirmed. It happens on sites where the administrator/components/com_admintools directory is not writable and you have not enabled Joomla!'s FTP layer in the Global Configuration. Please allow me some time to produce a viable workaround and publish a new release with instructions.

Thanks for being on top of this issue.

It's the least I can do! I just finished creating the workaround and tested it on an affected site. Now, it's time to release 2.1.13. Just give me 30 minutes :)
