Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? No
Have I searched the forum before posting? No
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 1.7.0
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.1.56
Host: Hostgator
Admin Tools version: 2.1.10

Description of my issue:

On a 1.7.0 site, I want to update it to 1.7.2 but Akeeba Tools tells me I'm up-to-date. It says:

Your version 1.7.0
Latest version 1.6.6
Status Up to date

I know Nicholas had a problem on his servers a couple of days ago that prevented Live Update from functioning properly. It had to do with changes to mod_security at Rochen. I don't think that would affect the J! updates though.

All of my 1.7.x sites updated properly on 2.1.10. Try the "Reload this information from the sever" button. If that doesn't work, clear your browser's cache and try it again.

No, this isn't anything which has to do with our CDN issues, as the Joomla! update information is fetched directly from JoomlaCode.org, where the Joomla! project is hosting all of its files.

What I see here is that you have a Joomla! 1.6 site. If it's not the case, please send me a Personal Message (I'm user nicholas) with the following information:
- A link back to this thread, so that I know why you contacted me
- The URL to your site
- Super Administrator username and password
- FTP connection information (hostname, username, password)
and I will take a look.

Next time, please open a new topic in the system. We can't go back and read through old topics to see new questions.

The answer to your question is that updates from Joomla 1.6 to 1.7 were removed from Admin Tools ability. There are minor changes in Joomla 1.7 DB Schema that make using the internal Joomla Updater required.

Nicholas removed this functionality for that reason in Admin Tools.

For a further description, please see this topic:

This is not entirely correct. I added back the update from 1.6 to 1.7 in Admin Tools 2.1.10, as I found a way to do it.

This problem you have means that Admin Tools is unable to contact JoomlaCode.org in order to fetch the update information. Please ask your host to allow connections over TCP port 80 to JoomlaCode.org in their firewall for this feature to work. Furthermore, you have to ask them to enable the curl PHP module or the URL fopen wrappers. Either of them will do.

Hi,
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post here (as I only have an Akeeba Professional subscription), but noticed something similar with Admin Tools Core 2.1.11. I have 1.5.22 installed, but when I attempt to upgrade, it only has "Reinstall Joomla! 1.5.24" available. I know it can't be the server because other sites that are on this same server (VPS) are not having this issue. Oddest thing here is, Update Manager doesn't allow me to either. So - all in all, this might be a general Joomla! issue... but might be good for troubleshooting in case other Admin Tools users come across something similar.

Again - I'm not sure of the policy for posting here, so please excuse me if I am not allowed to. Thanks!

No problem, that's a quick question :) The thing is, the Joomla! project hasn't released patch packages in ZIP format between all versions of Joomla!. If you have Joomla! 1.5.22, there is no 1.5.22-to-1.5.24 update package in ZIP format. Therefore, Admin Tools can't propose an upgrade.

That said, you can safely use the "Reinstall 1.5.24" button. What it does is to download the full installation package and extract it (except the installation directory). This is practically what you need to do to get an upgrade from one Joomla! 1.5 version to the next. The only difference between a full installation and an update package is that the latter doesn't contain the files which were unchanged between the two releases.

So, there you have it. Click on the Reinstall button :)
