We resolved a cron issue on one of our sites and now thousands of previously queued emails from Admin Tools are being delivered in batches of 100. How can we clear the queue of these old emails?

Hello,

emails are stored inside the database. If you look at the table wp_admintools_storage, you will find that there are several entries that starts with mail_ .

Simply delete them and you will clear any queued email.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the Admin Tools tables earlier and couldn't find any related data stored there. I'm attaching a screenshot of the only records in our wp_admintools_storage table.

Where's their next stop from there?

If there's nothing there, it means that all emails have been sent.

Alrighty, Thank you.

Hmm, we're definitely still receiving old email from Admin Tools, though. We just received another 8 login failure notifications back to back and we have the throttle in the email template set to 5 in an hour. The storage table is still empty of email records.

Maybe the email provider is still processing them? Sadly there's nothing we can do: if they're not in the table it means that they're been already sent :/

Something isn't adding up.

-- Admin Tools Storage table is empty

-- Still receiving Admin Tools notifications in larger batches that the email template throttle

-- I assume these are old queued up emails because we only have 15 new security exceptions in our log after I cleared the table yesterday and we've received about 7,000 of these emails since then.

-- I removed the email address from the WAF settings to disable security exception emails half an hour ago and that has affected the old email delivery, because we're still getting old failed logins and old admin directory hits notifications but no general security exception emails.

If you disable Admin Tools are you still getting email notifications?

Is deactivating the plugin sufficient to test that?

3by400Inc

I guess that was sufficient because I haven't received an email since I deactivated the plugin. Strange. Where in the world are these coming from because they're not stored anywhere I've found thus far ...

Most likely you are targeted by a bot, which spawns hundreds of threads and you get all the emails at once. So even if the IP is blocked you still get the emails.
Just to understand better, are you using Admin Tools in auto-prepend mode? (The Optimize WAF option). If not, emails are sent synchronously, so you won't see anything in the table.
Did you disable logging for some kind of security exceptions? In that case Admin Tools can't apply any kind of throttling since we read the log table.

I'd suggest you disable emails except for successfully logins and let Admin Tools handle the rest.
