JoomlaPack Native Tools 2009.4 released today.

JoomlaPack Developers is pleased to announce the immediate availability of JoomlaPack Native Tools 2009.4 (Stable).

The JoomlaPack Native Tools comprise of JoomlaPack eXtract, a ZIP/JPA archive extraction wizard and JoomlaPack Remote, the easiest way to perform multiple unattended site backups without even firing up a browser. The latest release is available, as always, from our file release system at JoomlaCode.org.

All users are kindly requested to immediately update to the new release. This version includes an improved JoomlaPack Remote application with important bug fixes, as well as a revised eXtract wizard. Read on for more details.

There are five files in the repositories:

  • [Recommended] An EXE installer which installs both applications.
  • [REQUIRED] The plg_jpremote-2009.3.zip. This is the Joomla! plug-in package which must be installed and published as per the manual's instructions on every Joomla! 1.5.x site you want to be able to use with JoomlaPack Remote. Important note: You must install the new version of the plugin. If you do not, some features will not work at all.
  • A ZIP file with the application executables. The ZIP file should only be used for the rare occasion where the EXE installer fails or if you only need to install Remote as a portable application on a USB stick.
  • There are two PDF files, one is the eXtract manual, the other is the Remote manual.

If you have any suggestions, questions or need support, please do not hesitate to contact us on our support forum. Do note that JoomlaPack Remote is still considered "young" software. If you experience any stability issues, please report them on the forum.

Change log

This is a list of changes over the last stable release, 2009.3.

Changes / feature additions

Remote

  • Support for Split ZIP / Split JPA backup files. Remote can download multi-part archive files. You must have the latest plg_jpremote installed for this feature to work.

Extract

  • Support for Split ZIP / Split JPA formats. eXtract can extract multi-part archives, provided that all parts are present.
  • Option to ignore most non-fatal errors (e.g. unwritable files, invalid filenames, etc). This feature enables you to extract archives taken on Linux systems, with some files having names which are valid on Linux, but invalid on Windows systems.

Bug fixes

Remote

  • Could not start when the username (normal installation) or the path (portable installation) contained non-ASCII characters.
  • "Invalid date 01-Jan-00" error.
  • The scheduled backups run on application restart, no matter when the last backup took place.
  • Donwload of multipart backup files wasn't working right after backup; only the last part was being downloaded.
