Akeeba Backup Professional 3.4.2 just released

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Backup Professional 3.4.2, an optional bugfix release.

[div class="alert" class2="typo-icon"]This update only concerns Akeeba Backup Professional, the paid version available to AKEEBAPRO and AKEEBADELUXE subscribers. Akeeba Backup Core remains at version 3.4.1 as it is not affected by the issues fixed in this release.[/div]

This version addresses an issue with the Dropbox integration affecting only very few servers with PHP Safe Mode enabled. Unless you are affected by this issue you do not have to update Akeeba Backup.

Please note that the PHP project has already denounced Safe Mode as an "architecturally incorrect" way to deal with security. PHP Safe Mode was deprecated in PHP 5.3 and removed in PHP 5.4. As a result, this is the last time we are making a release to address an issue caused by PHP Safe Mode. If you want to ensure that Akeeba Backup will continue to run on your site, urge your host to DISABLE the PHP Safe Mode. Since you are at it, make sure that your host is using PHP 5.3. Future releases of Akeeba Backup will drop support for PHP 5.2 or earlier as these versions of PHP have been end of life for over a year, not maintained by the PHP project and insecure.
