Akeeba Release System 1.0.2 just released!
We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of Akeeba Release System 1.0.2 Stable, a major improvement over the previous versions of our unique download manager component.
Most notably, this version has full Amazon S3 support built right in. You can host an entire download category in Amazon S3. You can even manage your S3 bucket from within ARS using the Upload Files view to upload, delete and create directories directly on Amazon S3 using the handy visual file manager on that page! To make things even more spectacular, you can host Bleeding Edge repositories directly on Amazon S3. In other words, just upload some files to Amazon S3 and they will appear as download items in ARS without having to do anything. Magic!
Furthermore, ARS 1.0.2 provides an even deeper integration with Joomla! 1.7's ACL and multilingual features. You can select the exact View Access Level which is allowed to access a category, release or item. Do you have a multilingual site with multilingual downloads? No problem! Tell ARS which categories, releases and items should be shown to which languages.
An editor button plugin allows you to easily link to any ARS item, directly from your favourite WYSIWYG editor. Another content plugin allows you to display the Download ID anyplace you want, even inside an article, so that you are not limited by the strict confines of the Download ID module.
A few more changes found their way in ARS 1.0.2. If you are a developer, you will appreciate the plugin events which allow you to customise Bleeding Edge releases and items. Our sample plugins for this feature allow you to set the maturity level of a Bleeding Edge release based on the directory name, as well as automatically produce colorised diff's for text file items' descriptions.
