Rewritten with Joomla 4 Core MVC and Bootstrap 5 styling. This is a native Joomla 4 extension, written using the core Joomla 4 MVC API and using Bootstrap 5 styling. The database schema management is also core Joomla as are the extension updates and providing the Download Key (Download ID) in the update site. We are no longer using our FOF and FEF frameworks. The package is smaller, the extension is a bit snappier and it all looks and feels very much like the rest of the Joomla backend.
Reset the configuration and filters of backup profiles from the Profiles page. If you feel you've messed up you no longer need to create a new profile; you can just reset the profile. This removes all custom configuration options and filters, bringing the backup profile back to the “factory defaults” so you can start over from a clean slate.

Akeeba Backup version 9 will only run on Joomla 4. If you still have a Joomla 3 site, don't worry! Akeeba Backup 8 will still be maintained and receive support from the release of Joomla 3.10 on August 17th, 2021 up to August 17th, 2023. Do note that Akeeba Backup 8 will no longer receive major new features. These will only be implemented on Akeeba Backup 9.
Also note that starting August 17th, 2021 we no longer support Akeeba Backup 8 on Joomla except for the use case of upgrading from Joomla 3 and with the sole intent of updating it to Akeeba Backup 9.
