This is the short list of changes since the last stable release, Akeeba Backup 3.2 stable
+ NEW Automatically exclude awstats and cgi-bin directories as they're read-only on most hosts, causing restoration woes
+ NEW Auto-exclude the logs directory contents. It is used on Plesk hosts to store Apache logs and it's unwritable, making restoration impossible
+ NEW ACL for back-end backup under Joomla! 1.5 (Akeeba Backup already supports Joomla! 1.6 ACLs through the Component Parameters since 3.1.5)
- MINOR CHANGE Removed the timeout bar animation because it was eating up a lot of CPU time and slowing down the browser
~ MINOR CHANGE Made MySQLi the default database engine during restoration
# CRITICAL The ZipArchiver engine would create partial archives
# CRITICAL The AKLazy plugin would misfire due to the way its temporary variables were being stored
# CRITICAL Akeeba Backup would try to backup the entire server filesystem on some hosts due to the PlatformLibraries filters going berserk. The filter was deactivated to mitigate this issue.
# CRITICAL Migrating between different MySQL servers may fail because some hosts set them up without MyISAM support. ENGINE=MyISAM and TYPE=MyISAM are now removed automatically. Do note that this issue also affects the latest XAMPP releases on which its developers, for an unknown reason, have removed MyISAM support from the bundled MySQL server.
# HIGH Would crash under Joomla! 1.6 if system debug was enabled (thanks Ervin!)
# HIGH Akeeba Backup would crash if the user selected to send email after front-end backup completion if the returned mailer object was not an object type
# HIGH Migrating between different MySQL servers may fail because some hosts set them up without support for all index types. USING BTREE and USING HASH are now removed automatically from index definitions.
# LOW File downloads would fail on Internet Explorer and hosts using GZip output buffering
# LOW Toolbar links were missing index.php in the Control Panel
# LOW ABI: Notice thrown because ABIText::_() wasn't declared as a static method
# LOW The installation package would include the plg_jpremote plugin's source files even though they were never installed
