Pseudo-CRON with WP-CRON (Akeeba Backup Professional for WordPress only). You can now schedule backups to be taken automatically using WordPress' WP-Cron facility. Please note that using the default WP-Cron configuration which executes tasks only when there is visitor traffic on your site is unreliable and could lead to backups starting at the wrong time or not at all, taking too long or not finishing, or cause backup consistency issues. We strongly recommend using WordPress' documented workaround of scheduling the execution of wp-cron.php
every minute which does indeed address these issues.

Option to treat failed uploads as a backup error. You can now choose to treat failed backup uploads as a critical backup error which will cause the entire backup process to stop running. Please read the documentation and use this feature only if absolutely necessary.
