Akeeba Backup for WordPress 7.6.0 Stable

Released on: 2022-02-08 04:45 CST

What's new?

Allow using [REMOTESTATUS] in the email subject, not just the body. When you are sending an email about the backup job having finished you can now use [REMOTESTATUS] in the email subject for a more glanceable overview in your email inbox.

Joomla restoration: modify domains in the Admin Tools' Allowed Domains and server config maker features if necessary. Applies to Akeeba Solo when backing up Joomla sites. If you are restoring a Joomla site to a different domain name the new domian name will be added to Admin Tools' 6 and 7 Allowed Domains feature to let you into your site without a problem right after restoration. Furthermore it will change the configuration settings for the .htaccess Maker, NginX Conf Maker and Web.Conf Maker — but won't change your .htaccess file; you will still have to go to Admin Tools and regenerate the file.

WordPress: Removed the ability to download backup archives through Akeeba Backup as many third party WordPress plugins corrupt the download.. Unfortunately, too many third party plugins in WordPress naïvely assume that the only kind of output in WordPress is HTML and start outputting junk long before our plugin gets the chance to send the backup file data to the browser. There were two solutions to that. One is no longer caring about your security and preference: only ever use the default output directory and allow direct access to the files by anyone with a URL. This is what other plugins do — and what we will never, EVER do (you buy our software to protect your sites from getting hacked, not getting your sites hacked because of our software, sheesh!). The second option was to remove this feature. You can download your backup archives through SFTP or your hosting control panel's file manager.

Bug fixes and minor improvements. Please take a look at the CHANGELOG below.
